As a Small Business Specialist, you will advise a variety of business organizations throughout the regional area you service on small business programs and initiatives.
This position is located in the Office of Small Business Utilization (OSBU) in Washington DC.

Advocates federal government-wide compliance with all federal laws, regulations, and policies designed to maximize the participation of all designated small business categories in the federal marketplace.
Advocates training of the federal procurement workforce and community in the principles and methodologies to maximize small business utilization.
Serves as expert advisor to GSA contracting officer's prime contractors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with subcontracting plans and procedures.
Reviews and coordinates with the local SBA Procurement Center Representative (PCR) the required subcontracting plans and monitors the accuracy and timeliness of submission of those plans.
Provides technical assistance to SBA PCR in their duties and functions relating to sections 8 and 15 of the Small Business Act and other related acquisition and small business regulations as per Public Law 95-507.
Provides support to the Regional Administrator, Regional Commissioners, and Regional Senior Procurement Executives in continually monitoring and coordinating attainment of Procurement Preference Program goals established for the Region and to ensure every contracting office is striving to meet its assigned goals.
Plans, conducts, promotes, and participates in numerous outreach events sponsored by GSA, Congressional or gubernatorial offices, other Federal agencies, states, cities, counties, professional and trade organizations, and chambers of commerce to promote and advance the small business programs.
Serves as the point of contact for the small business community.

The GS-13 salary range starts at $96,970.00 per year. If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience in providing advice and assistance to the business community on the Federal procurement/contracting process and the development of marketing strategies and materials. Examples of such experience include: developing marketing strategies and materials to promote the sales of goods and services of an organization; organizing procurement networking services; developing and presenting workshops to assist small, minority, and disadvantage businesses in dealing with a Federal agency.
