- You will serve as a Scientist supporting and leading projects such as Automated Digital Network Systems (ADNS), Consolidated Afloat Network Enterprise Services (CANES), Airborne Networking and next generation tactical networking projects.
- You will conduct and lead the design, development and testing of new networking systems, currently fielded networking systems and changes to the fielded networking systems to support the Navy.
- You will evaluate and advise on the feasibility of new technology and state-of-the-art solutions for incorporating into existing systems and equipment.
- You will conduct and lead test events for systems specifically with test planning, test setup, test execution, test analysis and documentation which includes test objectives, test plans, and test reports development.
- You will conduct and lead test setup, such as installing and cabling of equipment in testbed necks, installing software systems and components, and the configuration of information technology equipment.
- You will develop or direct the development of plans, schedules, and track program of design development, test and integration efforts from beginning to completion.
- You will identify and/or predict the critical software, network and system problems areas that limit the effectiveness of the systems, determines methods of solution, and recommend courses of action to the engineering chain of command.
- You will support and lead investigation and troubleshooting of software and network system anomalies and develop resolutions for system anomalies.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

For the ND-4:

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Lead projects in planning, developing, installing, testing, and evaluating software and networking systems including acquisition life-cycle, cost, performance and scheduling.

Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
You may qualify for this position with the graduate education OR combination of experience and graduate education.
For the ND-3:
Two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree
For the ND-4:
Three years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
For the ND-3 and ND-4.
Combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equals one hundred percent.
