Responsible for the full scope of library operations, administration, and management. Provides comprehensive reference, research, advisory and instruction services to library clientele within the VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System and VISN 16. Uses knowledge of specialized information sources including the structure, content, and access protocols of relevant databases to produce selected bibliographies on specific subjects. Prepares bibliographies by searching specialized online medical databases. Gives instruction to staff, students, and other clientele on the content, nature, and use of medical library resources including paper materials and various online databases, the internet, and other electronic media. The librarian makes authoritative evaluations and recommendations on collection development in all formats, including access to information outside the medical library. Manages the VISN 16 Virtual Medical Library.
