    Summary

    Temporary positions not-to-exceed 1039 regular hours in a service year may be terminated sooner or extended depending on management needs. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts is April through September, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding.     Responsibilities

    • Informally evaluates the work performance of subordinate staff and volunteers.
    • Gives direction, counsel, and instruction to paid staff and volunteer ushers.
    • Prepares and conducts a briefing meeting prior to each performance to provide information about expected audience attendance and characteristics, to assign work priorities, and to instruct staff in procedures that are specific to that day's show.
    • Plans, schedules, and assigns work of subordinate staff, providing technical and policy direction.
    • Drafts the official House Report, summarizing all important events, patron complaints, and facility/safety issues related to the theater.
    • Assists with new employee orientation training sessions and on-the-job training of the usher staff.
    • Is responsible for the inspection of the Filene Center to ensure the facility is safe, clean, and ready for public use, reporting findings to the House Manager.
    • Effects minor corrective performance measures, but will refer all matters warranting an official warning, reprimand, or other action to the House Manager.
    • Maintains constant surveillance of the audience and facility once the theater has been opened to ensure audience compliance with the theater's house rules.
