    Responsibilities

    The IT Specialist (INFOSEC) will perform the following duties: 

    Serves on a team conducting audits.

    Analyze the agencies hardware, software, and operating systems to ensure IT security policies, procedures and tools are applied to ensure the security, confidentiality, integrity and availability of USDA systems.

    Identifies unusual or questionable practices, procedures, or operations regarding system issues, vulnerabilities, applications, databases, and other efforts to improve the performance and availability of all USDA products and systems. Participates in the formulation and drafting of IT audit procedures in accordance with NIST, OMB, GAO guidance and federal auditing standards.

    Participates in interviewing USDA staff to gather information to support the audit plan, assists the supervisor in developing, summarizing, and briefing audit issues.

    Independently writes up audit findings in work papers and participates in the writing of reports and other briefing papers. Independently writes segments of draft and final IT or IT related audit reports following the standard written product format.
