The Census Bureau is seeking bright, innovative, results-oriented individuals to join our Recent Graduates Program (RGP). The Recent Graduate Program is a one-year program that targets individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs. Successful applicants will be placed in a dynamic, one-year career development program. Throughout the program, you will participate in formal training, job assignments and receive a mentor to develop competencies applicable to the Census Bureau’s mission and needs. These positions are at the grade 7/9 entry levels, with an opportunity for permanent appointment upon successful completion of the program.
To be eligible for conversion to a permanent or term position, Recent Graduates must:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Basic Entry Requirements for All Grade Levels:
Recent College Graduates from qualifying institutions within two years of degree or certification (Veterans precluded by their military service obligation, will have up to six years to apply).
Students with a transcript with a degree confer date on or before December 31, 2018 will be considered for the Recent Graduate Program. Graduation / expected graduation date MUST be indicated on your resume.
Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.
OR
Degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more fields identified above and required development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
MINIMUM GRADE REQUIREMENTS:
GS-09: Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience one lower grade level that equips them with the skills needed to perform the job duties and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. This specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the Grade 07 level to meet the qualification requirements in the Federal Service. Experience for this position includes: Providing PC related hardware customer support to a large customer base, installing, configuring, trouble-shooting and maintaining a variety of hardware and software components; preparing/delivering technical information; supporting virtual desktop environments, hard disk encryption technology and Microsoft operating systems and networks; gathering and understanding customer requirements; tracking tasks within resource constraints and meeting objectives and providing appropriate status reporting for high-level management.
For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
