    The purpose of this position is to serve as an Economist in the Office of Microeconomic Analysis (MA) in the Office of Economic Policy (EP). The Office of MA is responsible for in-depth economic evaluation and analysis of the developments and issues in specific policy areas, including financial market policy, Social Security and Medicare, pensions and retirement security, health, regulatory reform, labor and education, homeland security, agriculture, energy, and the environment.

    As an Economist, you will:

    The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14 . If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

    • Work with interagency teams of economists in developing clear and precise analyses and position papers within areas of expertise. 
    • Analyze and assess, using appropriate economic tools and models, the potential impact of proposed or existing policy changes or global economic developments.
    • Plan, draft, edit, and present assessments of important microeconomic, tax, and spending decisions, and will be instrumental in providing advice and counsel to senior Treasury policy-making officials.
