    Summary

    This position is located in the Associate Director (Chief Information Officer), Office of Critical Infrastructure and Information Technology (IT) Security. You will serve as the Bureau expert, senior technical advisor and representative before entities both internal and external to the agency on issues related to IT security, including high­ level policy issues. You will provide IT security policy recommendations affecting the entire Bureau to BEP Executive and Office Chief staff members.

    Responsibilities

    As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC), you will:

    Lead the review and evaluation of the Bureau IT security and infrastructure protection program, including policies, guidelines, tools, methods, and technologies; identify problem areas; update or establish new requirements; and make recommendations for a fully compliant infrastructure protection program to be implemented throughout the agency;

    Serve as the Bureau subject matter expert on BEP's vulnerability and asset inventory scanning tool sets. You will lead efforts to develop scripts and code development work with APIs to define required reports and outputs;

    Serve as the lead IT Security expert for administering BEP's Virtual Private Network solution, Security Event and Incident Management system and internal firewalls;

    Leads efforts for employing the appropriate intrusion detection and prevention tools and procedures to detect and prevent against hackers, worms and other malware;

    Lead the coordination and implementation of security measures to protect information and information processing assets. This will include leading policy and procedure workgroups made up of cross-functional BEP representatives (both IT and non-IT) to ensure the integration of IT security measures across BEP;

    Manage vulnerabilities, incidents, threats and counter measures within the information processing infrastructure;

    Serves as the Bureau IT security expert liaison, attending high-level policy meetings and working with BEP's external partners including but not limited to the Treasury Department, Department of Homeland Security, Office of Management and Budget and National Institute of Standards and Technology on inter-agency or government-wide projects which improve BEP's overall IT security posture and protections. Projects include but are not limited to Information Security Continuous Monitoring (ISCM), Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) and IT Security Policies and Procedures.
