    The purpose of this position is to serve as an Economist in the Office of Macroeconomic Analysis (MA) in the Office of Economic Policy (EP). MA provides intelligence & research support to senior Treasury officials concerning current & future developments in the U.S. economy that cut across all economic.

    As an Economist, you will:

    The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14 . If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

    • Identify and analyze substantive issues, independently structuring the work to be performed, evaluating the results attained, and recommending potential changes/policies.
    • Work with other analysts both within and outside Macroeconomic Analysis (MA) to monitor and assess the significance of current and future economic developments, including producing memos, papers, and briefings on current and prospective conditions, under tight time constraints for senior Treasury policy-making officials.
    • Plan, draft, edits, and present assessments of important macroeconomic, tax, and spending decisions, and will be instrumental in providing advice and counsel to senior Treasury policy-making officials.
    • Analyze and assess, using appropriate economic tools and models, the potential impact of U.S. policy shifts or global economic developments.
