    About the Position: This position is located at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, Department of Medicine, Cardiology Clinic, Fort Belvoir, VA.

    This is a TERM position and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years. See "Additional Information" section for additional information.

    Responsibilities

    • Providing highly specialized nursing care to patients, including critically ill patients, to consistently utilize advanced assessment skills to identify difficult patient care problems.
    • Respond decisively to life-threatening changes in patient condition, providing immediate and appropriate emergency measures, according to established protocols.
    • Operates and monitors the performance of sophisticated equipment, used in the care of critically ill patients.
    • Administers and monitors oxygen therapy; interprets and responds to data. Utilize intensive pulmonary care techniques.
    • Teaches and mentors professional and paraprofessional nursing staff, assisting with complex nursing and diagnostic procedures.
    • Administer and monitor the response to highly lethal and potent medications during Cardiac and Interventional Radiology procedures.
    • As a member of the on-call team for Cardiology and Interventional Radiology, return to the facility on-site within 30 minutes for procedures.
