    About the Position:
    The New Orleans District provides for navigation, flood and hurricane protection, environmental stewardship, and other water resources needs to benefit the people of southern Louisiana and the nation. The offices are located in modern energy efficient buildings in the uptown area of New Orleans overlooking the Mississippi River. There is a child care center and a fitness center on the premises, and free employee parking. Audubon Park is within walking distance.

    Responsibilities

    • Serve as a senior Civil Engineer within Geotechnical Branch.
    • Conduct engineering studies and designing levees, earth embankments, earth-fill dams, and foundations as pertains to flood protection and navigation programs.
    • Oversee the implementation of project work assigned.
    • Perform quality reviews of the project work to detect and rectify regulatory violations and other major problems.
    • Monitor work for accuracy, overall adequacy, and compliance with policy and instructions; identifies work that is incorrect or otherwise unacceptable.

    Travel Required

    25% or less - You may be expected to travel for this position.
