    About the Position: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District works to continually meet the needs of our customers and the Nation. We are a bustling district of 250 employees who provide a variety of services throughout South Carolina, the Southeast and the Nation. Through regulatory permits, civil works projects, military construction, international and interagency support, and emergency operations, the Charleston District is one of the most diverse districts in the Corps.

    • Responsible for acquiring all necessary commodities in support of the Charleston Engineer District?s mission
    • Serves as Contracting Officer on significant (complex or special interest) contracts
    • Serves as the principal procurement official and primary contracting officer vested with an unlimited monetary authority to contract for supplies, service (to include architect-engineer), construction, utilities, and agreements.
    • Prepares recommendations for sustainment or denial of mistakes in bids, protests, justifications and approvals along with their related determinations and findings at higher agency level or through the General Accounting Office.
    • Exercises full breadth of authority through participation in acquisition planning, contract formation, partnering, administration, resolution of disputes, and claims by means of issuing COD and subsequent contract modifications.
    • Exercises delegated authority to appoint Ordering Officers, Administrative Contracting Officers, Contracting Officer?s Representatives, and similar positions in the contracting process.
    • Provides advice, counsel and instruction on work and administrative matters.
    • Assures that equal opportunity programs for minority groups, women, and disabled persons are implemented and operational.

    Travel Required

    50% or less - You may be expected to travel at 35% for TDY with this position.
