All current, permanent employees with competitive status in the Office of the Solicitor's Dallas Regional Office. CTAP eligibles in the local commuting area.
Serve as a proficient Paralegal Specialist and will be assigned to complex legal research and case development assignments which demand highly developed legal skills and knowledge to find precedents, develop findings and resolve controversial and contested issues.
Prepare cases for litigation and provide legal assistance to staff attorneys and counsels in all program areas. Preparation of legal analyses, litigation reports, legal briefs and memoranda, collection letters, administrative and Federal Court complaints, discovery and litigation pleadings; preparation of questions for direct and cross-examination of witnesses in depositions and hearings; conduct legal research and it entails; preparation and organization of exhibits for litigation; coordinate the location and interviewing of trial witnesses; and conduct settlement negotiations of cases with both pro se plaintiffs and the private bar. Research complex and novel legal questions for staff attorneys and counsels and prepares memoranda setting forth the law in a given area. Conduct legal research of Federal and State law and regulations, including esoteric statutory, regulatory, court and/or administrative precedents, and other legal opinion or documentary material. In the process of case development, interprets and evaluates discrepant information collected from various resources and prepares comprehensive reports which serve as the basis for critical administrative or legal arguments, interpretations or opinions.
