    One position is in the Clinical Center and two positions are in the Office of Research Nursing, NCI and the Clinical Center. The ideal candidates for these positions should have supervisory experience in leading high-level research nurses. You should have extensive experience in oncology, clinical research and clinical trials, also technical knowledge in basic clinical research to lead a cadre of research nurses within the organization and providing support to the clinical labs and branches.

    • Supervise a team of Research Nurses, including mentoring, performance evaluation, training, and guiding the nursing staff in the execution of clinical research protocols.
    • Develop and implement procedures and policies impacting the functioning of the research nurse support system, including competencies for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Collaborate with physicians and investigators to determine the research and clinical care impact on patient populations, necessary resources, and safety issues when programs are initiated, altered, or curtailed.
    • Assess workloads and staff assignments of the clinical teams across the organization and reassign nurses within the team to meet the needs of the clinical research and staff requirements.
    • Communicate and meet regularly with research teams in assigned branches to review and plan for protocols, screen potential patients, and evaluate progress of the research and clinical implications.
    • Provide leadership in support of clinical and research activities to ensure patient safety, address clinical needs, ensure protocol integrity, and accuracy of data collection.
