If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for directly and independently, assisting professional and administrative staff by providing a wide variety of technical and secretarial services. Typical work assignments will include:
GS-6: To be eligible at the GS-6 level, you must have at least ONE year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level.
Specialized experience is defined as experience that may have been gained while performing various clerical and administrative duties in support of the organization, performing office automation support using multiple automated programs and software such as databases, spreadsheets, and graphics in support of the clerical and administrative work. Examples of specialized experience may include: answering, placing and screening telephone calls, determines nature of the call or business of the visitor and referring visitors; answering requests for information on routine or procedural matters; protecting the security of confidential information; computer usage in preparing, composing and reviewing correspondence such as letters, memoranda, and presentation; preparing and editing reports and documents, verifying accuracy statements, preparing figures, tables and charts by referring to standard reference materials and consulting with subject matter experts; and establishing and maintaining files and calendars.
To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.)
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP): The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
