As a AIRCRAFT FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR, GS-2181-13 your duties are below;
The position is responsible for providing instruction, evaluation and examination of rated pilots, instructor pilots and aeroscout observers in flying techniques nd methods of instruction, examination and evaluation. Instruction involves basic and advanced techniques for flying aircraft using instruments. Plans and implements flight training and instruction for rated pilots and instructor pilots in accordance with the individual needs. For a substantial portion of the time (at least 20%), performs one or more of the following: a) trains, instructs and evaluates pilots in operating aircraft using advanced instruments flight techniques, b) instructs pilots in methods of instruction and evaluates instructor pilots proficiency to engage in flight instruction, c) instructs pilots in operating advanced attack helicopters or heavy multi-engine advanced transport helicopters. May conduct refresher, mission and continuation training in light fixed wing or utility and observer helicopters. Trains pilots in basic and advanced techniques required to
support the pilot's unit mis'sion. Advises and represents the Commander on all matters concerning aviation/ground safety related to the facility. Ensures facility conforms to Public Law in areas of occupational health and safety. Develops, maintains and rehearses the current accident and preaccident prevention plans for the aviation facility. Conducts facility safety meetings/lectures and establishes a continuing program to promote the Safety Awareness and Accident Prevention Programs. Develops and insures maximum distribution of safety literature and materials to all facility personnel. Receives, investigates and reports on all alleged facility safety violations and safety related suggestions. Performs other duties as assigned. D0646
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires military membership in a compatible military assignment in the Iowa Army National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of this excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

Military Rank Requirements: Warrant Officer
MOS Compatibility (but not limited to): 15, 67J
Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance
Must be UH-60M Instructor Qualified
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience - Must have a high school diploma or general education development (GED) diploma. An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is optimum. Must have Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs or must have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.
To receive credit for Education, you must provide college transcripts to support your Educational claims.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Employment is subject to attaining and maintaining a secret clearance as required by this position. If the selectee does not possess the applicable security clearance when hired, application must be made within 30 days of the start date. Failure to make application for the required security clearance will result in termination of employment.
Failure to complete NGB prescribed courses at the PEC for new FTS personnel within the first year of employment may be cause for reassignment or termination of FTS.
