    Summary

    As a Biological Science Technician (Fisheries) you will be responsible for for assembling information on fish populations in various locations.
    Theses positions may be filled at the GS-04 or GS-05 level.
    The salary range given above includes base pay and locality pay, you will receive a 3.74% cost of living allowance for Anchorage and Fairbanks, and 5.30% for Soldotna , Alaska. This allowance is subject to annual review, adjustment and grade decrease.

    Responsibilities

    As a Biological Science Technician (Fisheries), you will be responsible for:

    • Monitoring salmon runs using fish weirs, Didson Sonar, and digital video equipment.
    • Conducting abundance estimates of resident fish species.
    • Documenting fish movement using radio telemetry.
    • Sampling water quality.
    • Performing fish habitat inventory.
    Technicians will perform field work at various locations throughout the state, including remote areas in the Alaskan bush. Travel to field camps is primarily by small aircraft or boat.
