    This position may be filled at the GS-06 or GS-07 levels.

    The salary range given above includes base pay and locality pay, you will receive a 3.74% cost of living allowance for Anchorage and Fairbanks, and 5.30% for Soldotna, Alaska. This allowance is subject to annual review, adjustment and grade decrease.

    As a Biological Science Technician (Fisheries), you will be responsible for:

    • Lead a small group of lower graded technicians in gathering field data, and provide necessary training in techniques and procedures.
    • Monitor salmon runs using fish weirs, Didson Sonar, and digital video equipment.
    • Conduct abundance estimates of resident fish species.
    • Document fish movement using radio telemetry.
    • Sample water quality.
    • Perform fish habitat inventory.
    Technicians will perform field work at various locations throughout the state, including remote areas in the Alaskan bush. Travel to field camps is
    primarily by small aircraft or boat.
