    This vacancy is for a IT Specialist (INFOSEC) position in the Office of Information Security (OIS) located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland.  The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line – Suitland Station.

    This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other IT Specialist (INFOSEC), GS-2210-13, (FPL, GS-13) positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide investigative support for computer security incidents, working on cases concerning data loss, theft and administrative or legal violations.
    • Utilize digital forensic tools for fathering evidence, analysis and preserving the chain of custody; including making copies of hard drives, securing evidence and assisting investigators with the review of electronic evidence.
    • Research and employ tools and techniques to perform intrusion and log analysis, as well as volatile data and memory analysis on a variety of digital media, including mobile devices.
    • Develop policies and procedures for digital analysis, evidence preservation and incident response, and participate in the various incident response and forensics working groups.
    • Maintain expertise in any laws, regulations, and policies in the discipline of IT systems security and analyzes impact with regard to the agency's operational needs cost, resources and consequences.
