As a Technical Training Program Assistant, you will:
Perform the administrative logistical support work of coordinating arrangements for approximately 65 States, Native American, and the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement's(OSMRE) offices that participate in OSMRE's National Technical Training Program (NTTP), this includes students and instructors. Coordination involves: screening, reviewing, and processing student nominations manually and electronically in the Department of the Interior's Learning Management System (LMS).
Research and perform cost analysis to determine the most cost efficient mode of travel for the National Technical Training Program (NTTP) customers and use an automated travel system to create travel authorizations and processes vouchers.
With close supervision, negotiate with vendors for hotels and local transportation to arrange for meetings and sleeping rooms as well as audio visual and other support.
Makes credit card purchases for office and course supplies and equipment following Federal, DOI and OSMRE guidelines and regulations.
Enter and reconcile actions in the Financial Business Management System (FBMS) using proper OSMRE cost accounting codes.
Draft and edit informational memorandums and correspondence relating to technical training and all OSMRE training functions.
Utilize personal computer software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets and database software as well as other systems to meet program objectives; and to compile various reports to track course attendance and evaluations.
Maintain liaison with OSMRE staff and staff from Federal, State, and Native American agencies, keep them informed of technical training program courses, and coordinate their training activities.
Work with course managers to assure correct materials and equipment are shipped to class including testing a logging outgoing shipments and unpacking and storing incoming shipments.
Provide assistance to the Property Manager and ensure that the Division's property inventory is up-to-date.
Process and maintain time and attendance records.

The purpose of the Recent Graduate Program is to provide graduates exposure to public service. The program is formally structured to give the selected person the opportunity to work in positions related to their academic/career goals. Participants will complete assigned duties, tasks and developmental activities as specified in the program. This is a career development, Excepted Service appointment under the OSMRE Pathways Recent Graduate Program.
If selected for this position, you will be appointed under the Excepted Service on a Recent Graduate appointment for one year. Participants who successfully meet the requirements at the end of their first year may be eligible for noncompetitive conversion to the competitive service. This conversion is at the agency's discretion.
ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position does not have a positive education requirement. However, you must possess one year of specialized experience with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that are typically in or directly related to the position be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to the GS-06 level in the Federal service, or comparable pay band system. Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Examples of Specialized Experience may include: assisting in the planning, reviewing, and reporting of data results of a training program; or maintaining program-specific data using automated software, i.e. Excel, Access, PowerPoint (Microsoft Suite) to track information such as milestones, progress reports, funding accomplishments, and compliance strategies.
