    This position is one of 15 field based specially designated major project oversight managers (sdPOMs) within the Office of Infrastructure of Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).  These positions were first established by the FHWA and then supplemented through Congressional legislation.  These positions are administered by the FHWA Headquarters Office of Stewardship, Oversight, and Infrastructure Management (HISM).

    As a Civil Engineer (Highway), you will:

    • Be responsible for overseeing the assigned major project’s schedule, budget, and cost management consistent with FHWA policies and procedures.
    • Be responsible for sensitive consensus building, partnering, managing complex programmatic, technical and policy issues, promoting cost and schedule control principles, fulfilling environmental commitments, highway and structural design, and construction activities as well as coordinating the timely review and approval of design and construction contract documents as defined in the relevant project Stewardship and Oversight Agreements.
    • Consult and provide regular briefs to the applicable FHWA Division Office(s) and Headquarters Senior management to ensure that their views are considered throughout the development and construction of projects.
