The Associate Chief of Staff for Research and Development (ACOS R&D) is responsible for management and oversight of the human subject, animal, health services, and laboratory research programs and for all other functions under research service. The ACOS R&D develops and coordinates translational and clinical research within the institution that supports the VA core missions. The Director delegates authority to administer the Research and Development Program to the ACOS R&D.

The Richard L. Roudebush Indianapolis VA Medical Center, located two miles northwest of the heart of downtown Indianapolis, has been serving Indiana Veterans since 1932.
