    ORGANIZATIONAL LOCATION: Department of Health & Health Human Services (HHS), Indian Health Service (IHS), Southwest Region, Phoenix Area, Medical Services, Fort Yuma Service Unit, located in Winterhaven, California. Position is supervised by the Supervisory Physician ( Clinical Director).

    Major Duties:

    • Provides direct care to patients diagnoses all optometric and ocular problems through a complete external and internal physical evaluation of the eye . Provides emergency eye services including diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic trauma or pathology on an outpatient basis.
    • Treats visual disorders through examination, prescription of corrective lenses, vision training and/or pharmacological means.
    • Develops and provides head start, school vision, diabetic retinopathy and community wide "health fair" screening programs.
    • Provides vision and eye care education and counseling to patient(s) and families.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.
