Health, Retirement, and Long-Term Analysis Division is seeking an analyst for its Long-Term Analysis Unit (LTAU) to cover immigration issues. The analyst will improve the agencys projections of immigration and other demographics and assist with estimates of legislative proposals related to immigration policy. The analyst may also assist in the development and use of CBOs long-term microsimulation model. LTAU carries out CBOs long-term modeling initiatives, providing the Congress with 30-year projections of the federal budget under current law, and performs analyses of long-term trends and policy options related to retirement, disability, and health care. Analysts in LTAU work closely with analysts in CBOs other divisionsincluding the Macroeconomic Analysis, Tax Analysis, and Budget Analysis Divisionsand make important contributions to CBOs work, including its Long-Term Budget Outlook.
Tier Two Clearance
Applicants must have a graduate degree in public policy, public administration, economics, demographics, or a closely related field. Experience analyzing or working on immigration issues is required. Furthermore, candidates should have: Excellent oral and written communication skillsespecially the ability to explain complex material clearly and concisely to colleagues, Congressional staff, Members of Congress, and the public; Strong quantitative skills, including experience with statistical software or a programming language; and The ability to work on several analytical problems simultaneously and to complete projects independently under tight deadlines. Candidates must have passed or be able to pass a Tier 2 (Public Trust) investigation, which includes a credit check. A higher security clearance may be accepted instead.
