Plans, creates, and provides presentations for interpretive displays such as forest management, ecology, and natural and cultural history that will be displayed in kiosks throughout the visitor’s center. Develops environmental programs and wilderness education programs. Provides support and assistance in the development and administration of environmental programs for schools by working with educators to plan customized programs to meet curriculum requirements. Responsible for providing visitors with accurate and complete information, including guides and pamphlets covering various permit and pass requirements, trip planning, local area information, ecological and wilderness information, recreational opportunities, and educational information.
Makes presentations on subjects such as forest management, ecology, and natural and cultural history to various groups, adjusting the message for the audience. Explains safety requirements and regulations regarding proper use of a public lands to the public. Responds to inquiries, questions, and complaints from the general public and other government agencies. Provides visitors with detailed information regarding various permit and pass requirements, trip planning, local area information, ecological, and wilderness information.
Monitors the daily functions of the visitor center to assure optimum operation. Coordinates and directs the daily operations for a visitor facility including the handling of daily receipts, sales, and personnel and building landscape maintenance. Organizes, inventories and maintains center/program equipment, merchandise, and supplies. Provides input to budget planning by assisting with overall estimates of materials, personnel, and supplies needed for work accomplishment. Maintains and updates all visitor center records, reports and databases. Responsible for the National Park Pass program and for forest product permit program, including inventory control and ordering, sales, and oversight. Responsible for depositing all collections into appropriate funds.
Compiles and prepares various reports as requested by the supervisor, management, and other government agencies. Writes or edits materials to develop and present factual information that is clear and meaningful to the intended audience. Writes, edits, proofreads, and updates information contained on the forest website/social media sites.
