The Director, Strategic Intelligence and Analysis Cell (SIAC) operates under the authority, direction, and control of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (USD(R&E)). The USD(R&E) serves as the Chief Technology Officer for the Department of Defense (DoD).
The Director, SIAC's mission is to focus on understanding the enemy's capabilities and exploitable vulnerabilities. The Director, SIAC will conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis on U.S. capabilities and vulnerabilities to threat systems, track technology trends across the globe, and assess against potential/emerging future threats to directly inform development of the USD(R&E)'s decisions and strategies for maintaining/regaining technological superiority for the Department of Defense. Incumbent provides the analytic foundation for DoD investment decisions to restore technical overmatch to the Joint Force. Major duties include:
