The individual selected for this position will:
*Major Duty 1: Review and evaluate the organization’s planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs and controls; evaluate security requirements pertaining to the design, development, implementation, management, and support of systems and networks.
*Major Duty 2: Ensure policies and procedures relating to information security prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, network and data.
*Major Duty 3: Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs.
*Major Duty 4: Develop and present conclusions and recommendations regarding IT evaluations to Department management officials through written reports and exit conferences; and represent the program area interactions with other organizations, both within and outside OIG.
*Major Duty 5: Present conclusions and recommendation regarding IT evaluations to Department officials, management and other audiences orally in a concise and effective manner.
Occasional travel - May travel up to 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Basic Entry Requirements for All Grade Levels:
For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience clearly demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below in your resume. Failure to clearly demonstrate all four competencies within your resume will result in a rating of "NQ" Not Qualified.
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
GRADE LEVEL REQUIREMENTS: In addition to meeting the Basic Entry Requirements above, applicants must have the experience listed below.
For the GS-13 level: Fifty-two weeks of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Your experience should demonstrate leadership accomplishment of IT security related activities, such as 1) applying IT security principles, techniques, or best practices to IT security reviews (e.g., reviewing IT security policies, procedures, implementation, system authorization packages); 2) performing security control assessments; 3) evaluating security documents or artifacts to determine adequacy of the systems’ security posture; 4) communicating on IT security related matters in-person and in writing; 5) making recommendation to improve IT security posture; and 6) researching emerging IT security related technologies. This level of work experience should reflect excellent capability in effectively planning and carrying out the assignment and selecting the approach or methodology to be used.
For the GS-14 level: Fifty-two weeks of experience at the GS-13 level, or equivalent, that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Your experience should demonstrate professional expertise and strong leadership accomplishment of IT security related activities, such as 1) apply IT security principles, techniques, or best practices to IT security reviews (e.g., reviewing IT security strategies, policies, procedures, implementation); 2) performing security control assessments; 3) evaluating security documents or artifacts to determine adequacy of the systems’ security posture; 4) making recommendation to improve IT security posture; 5) briefing senior management on security findings or conclusions; and 6) researching emerging IT security related technologies and tools. This level of work experience should reflect extensive capability in effectively planning IT security related projects, managing security audits or evaluations, and producing high quality written products.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.**
