The following are the duties of this position at the GS-11. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
-Provide troubleshooting support and work with Tier 2 and 3 technical staff to assist users of all organizations regarding the Fiscal Service WAN/LAN and large scale mainframe using automated reporting and monitoring systems.
-Assist administrators and engineers in the operation and troubleshooting of data center device, operating systems, applications and hardware.
-Assist computer facility staff in the operation and troubleshooting of the data center lighting, power and environmental controls.

Specialized experience: For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility at the GS-09 level in the Federal service or equivalent, which have equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes monitoring processes necessary for effective and efficient delivery of enterprise wide IT services and managing the tools that carry out those processes while independently interpreting and applying policy or procedures to provide IT customer support by planning and delivering methods, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and communication of IT issues internally and externally to provide resolution. For the GS-11, examples of such experience could include:
- Experience providing IT support for desktop, server and network operating systems; OR
- Experience involving Information Technologies including mainframe, Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) to interpret or apply principles, concepts, or methodologies to resolve IT Issues; OR
- Experience interpreting and applying IT standard operating procedures or IT guidelines; OR
- Experience providing a 24-hour event management and operational support history; OR
- Experience utilizing applications such as site scope, net IQ or Hewlett Packard Service Manager (HPSM) to monitor the network health for a large enterprise.
AND
In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must have IT-related proficiency in each of the four competencies listed below.
- Attention to Detail such as collection and reporting of completion timelines.
- Customer Service such as providing technical assistance to staff, customers and management.

Specialized experience includes monitoring processes necessary for effective and efficient delivery of enterprise wide IT services and while using guidelines to provide IT customer support while working independently, but within limited frame work of a supervisor, delivering methods, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and communication of IT issues internal and externally to provide customer service problem resolution. For the GS-09, examples of such experience could include:
- Experience providing IT support for desktop, server and network operating systems; OR
- Experience interpreting and applying IT standard operating procedures or IT guidelines; OR
- Experience with applications such as site scope, net IQ or Hewlett Packard Service Manager (HPSM).
AND

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
