    Responsibilities

    The incumbent of this position serves as a developmental Aviation Safety Compliance Specialist responsible for assisting a higher-grade specialist by coordinating and performing segments of inspectional and advisory work to assure consistency, understanding, and compliance with Federal regulations and FAA orders regarding all aspects of aviation security.

    Under close supervision of the AVS Chief of Staff, the incumbent administers the Aviation Safety Office correspondence system process. The incumbent independently receives and reviews routine correspondence and under close supervision reviews non­-routine correspondence and recommends assignment for appropriate response. The incumbent analyzes incoming Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to determine if they are in compliance with the FOIA and the FAA’s FOIA policies and procedures, reviews and analyzes records to determine whether the FOIA request is valid.

    The incumbent assists with the development of a revamped and broader-use knowledge sharing network site. Works with senior staff members and contributes to managing AVS assignments in the FAA's Correspondence Control Management System (CCMS). Supports the AVS Correspondence Lead in developing plans and materials to assist a wider use of the CCMS and pending DOT replacement system by the AVS workforce with the ultimate goal of "near-paperless" correspondence and travel approval processes. The incumbent also has knowledge of the DOT Correspondence Control Management System.

    APPOINTMENT - If selected, your temporary appointment may not exceed a total of two (2) years.

    AGREEMENT: All participants must sign a written Recent Graduates Program Participant Agreement with the FAA that clearly identifies expectations of the appointment such as duties, length of appointment, work schedule, training, mentorship, etc.

    CONVERSION: Although it is not guaranteed, an intern may be converted from the Recent Graduates Program to a permanent excepted service position without further competition after successful completion of the required training, mentorship, and other requirements in accordance with the recent graduates participant agreement.*

    TERMINATION: Participation in this program may be terminated at any time.

    TRANSCRIPTS: Must be submitted. If you do not submit your transcripts, your application will be considered incomplete and will not be given further consideration.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis. The travel may be for training or other work-related duties.
