    The WG 5703-06 Motor Vehicle Operator (Rural Health) located at the Gaylord CBOC, a Department of Veterans Affairs facility within the Grounds and Transportation Section in the Facilities Management Service. The incumbent reports directly to the Supervisor of the Garage whom reports directly to the Assistant Chief of Facilities Management Services.

    The primary purpose of this position is for fulfilling all transportation needs in support of the delivery of direct patient care operation of the Medical Center. Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Incumbent operates passenger cars, vans and buses for the purpose of transporting patients to/from VA Medical Centers in Saginaw; Ann Arbor; Detroit; Battle Creek; and Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Northern Michigan (located in Gaylord, Traverse City and Grand Traverse, Alpena, Oscoda, Bad Axe, Clare, Cadillac, Grayling and Cheboygan County) and private health care installations.
    • Incumbent operates passenger vehicles to transport designated VA personnel on approved trips in support of local and various other VA assignments with primary emphasis on the Gaylord rural health transportation route from the Gaylord CBOC and various stops ending at Saginaw VAMC.
    • Incumbent loads/unloads or assists in loading materials, supplies, documents (Correspondence, C&P requests), records (patient medical records, X-rays), etc., to/from various vehicles.
    • Incumbent always carries valid credentials as required by the DVA, GSA and State of Michigan.

    Work schedule: 9:30AM to 6:00PM (Monday through Friday, may be required to work some evenings, weekends,holidays and unscheduled overtime)
