    This position is located in National Ocean Service (NOS), Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services (CO-OPS), Oceanographic Division (OD) with one vacancy in Silver Spring, Maryland.

    Responsibilities

    As a General Physical Science, you will perform the following duties:

    • Leads assigned teams, groups and committees related to physical and operational oceanographic applications and products in support of CO-OPS water level, current, modeling and prediction activities.
    • Operates and maintains hydrodynamic models in an operational environment using physical oceanographic principles as it relates to the practices and application of coastal tidal theory.
    • Writes technical reports and Standard operating procedures (SOP); develops presentations and trainings to be given to internal working groups; mentors apprentice and journeyman level physical scientists.
    • Develops and transitions hydrodynamic models to an operational environment following established priority designations and ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures.
