This position is located in the Environmental Crimes Section (ECS) of the Department of Justice's Environment and Natural Resources Division (ENRD). ECS is responsible for prosecuting individuals and corporations that violate federal laws designed to protect the environment and handles cases across the United States.

The incumbent will be part of several litigation teams, consisting of federal prosecutors and criminal investigators from various federal agencies, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Coast Guard, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. These litigation teams handle large, complex cases focusing on criminal violations of such statutes as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Act to Prevent Pollution from Ships, Lacey Act, and Endangered Species Act. The headquarters office for this position is located in Washington, D.C.
