These positions are located in the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Office of Grants and Financial Management, with two vacancies in Washington, DC.
The Office of Grants and Financial Management (OGFM) is a major component of NIFA. This Office is responsible for providing national leadership and support for cooperative research, extension, and education programs and other cooperative activities in the food and agricultural sciences.
The incumbent is responsible for the reconciliation obligations (as recorded in the Cooperative Research, Education, and Extension Management System (CREEMS)) as well as preparation of financial reports and analysis to the Department, the program staff and other management staff.
Note: Veterans who were precluded by their military service obligation from meeting the 2-year requirement above, will have an additional full 2-year period of eligibility upon release or discharge from active duty.
Recent Graduate appointments are intended to last for 1 year. Recent Graduates who satisfactorily complete the USDA Recent Graduates Program and meet all eligibility requirements for conversion may be non-competitively converted to a Term or Permanent appointment in the competitive service. Recent Graduates converted to Term appointments may later be non-competitively converted to a Permanent competitive service position.
The duration of the Recent Graduates appointment in the excepted service is the trial period. Prior Federal civilian service may be creditable toward the completion of the required trial period.
