    About the Position:


    This position is being filled under the Expedited Hiring Authority (EHA) for Defense Acquisition Workforce Positions in accordance with 10 USC § 1705(g).

    Responsibilities

    • Serves as a mechanical engineer with responsibility for design of complex mechanical equipment and features of large civil works construction projects such as multi-purpose dams and river navigation structures.
    • Prepares preliminary and final design studies, assessments, contract drawings, analysis, design documentation reports, design calculations, technical specification provisions, and labor and material estimates for projects and equipment.
    • Coordinates the design of mechanical equipment with features designed by others to ensure the equipment conforms to related design plans.
    • Reviews mechanical engineering designs prepared by others including architect-engineer firms or other USACE Districts/Centers for the above and similar type systems and facilities.
    • Checks designs for proper interpretation and application of criteria to ensure that design drawings and analyses of design area accurate and that conclusions and assumptions are sound.
    • Reviews mechanical portions of contractors/manufacturers shop drawings to evaluate the adequacy and practicability of the equipment or system design in conformance with contract requirements.
