    Joining Customs & Border Protection will allow you to use your expertise in operations research to advise management on a wide range of program activities which will impact the total Customs Agency.     This position starts at a salary of $114,590.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $148,967.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $148,967.00 (GS-14, Step 10).

    In this Operations Research Analyst position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals by researching and advising management on a wide range of cost analysis activities which will impact the total Customs Agency. Typical work assignments include:

    • Identifying and solving a variety of complex challenges by applying advanced concepts of operations research, statistics, and scientific methods and techniques
    • Serving as an expert on cost analysis/estimating of CBP programs; provide authoritative advice to program managers and other CBP stakeholders on best practices in cost estimating/analysis
    • Leading efforts to develop Life Cycle Cost Estimates (LCCEs) for CBP Border Patrol acquisition programs
    • Developing cost models, incorporating cost sensitivity and benefit analysis that are communicated to leadership for consideration in budgetary decisions
