    Responsibilities

    Joining Customs & Border Protection will allow you to use your expertise in operations research to advise management on a wide range of program activities which will impact the total Customs Agency. Apply for this exciting opportunity to strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security functions by identifying potentially conflicting organizational requirements.

    This position starts at a salary of $114,590.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $148,967.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $148,967.00 (GS-14, Step 10).

    In this Operations Research Analyst position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals by researching and advising management on a wide range of cost analysis activities which will impact the total Customs Agency. Typical work assignments include:

    • Identifying and solving a variety of complex challenges by applying advanced concepts of operations research, statistics, and scientific methods and techniques
    • Serving as an expert on cost analysis/estimating of CBP programs; provide authoritative advice to program managers and other CBP stakeholders on best practices in cost estimating/analysis
    • Leading efforts to develop Life Cycle Cost Estimates (LCCEs) for CBP Border Patrol acquisition programs
    • Developing cost models, incorporating cost sensitivity and benefit analysis that are communicated to leadership for consideration in budgetary decisions
