The incumbent will work with the USDA, Agricultural Research Service's Cereal Disease Labortory in St. Paul, Minnesota.
The incumbent will conduct research on the impact of circadian clock on plant immunity in wheat. This research will focus on determining if disease resistance varies in response to environmental conditions, identify circadian-regulatated resistance genes and circadian clock mutants to determine if disease susceptibility is altered by clock disruption.
• Travel will be required.
This position requires a recent (within the last 4 years) Ph.D in molecular biology, genetics, genomics, plant patholgy or a related field of study that has equipped the applicant with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Experience with molecular biology, genomics and plant disease screenting techniques is required. Experience in analyzing genomics data and bioinformatics knowledge is highly desired.
Applicants must meet basic Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standard's requirements of the scientific discipline necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
