    • Maintains a process of continuous review/evaluation of staff under supervision, and to advise the Scientific Director (SD) about the latest scientific breakthroughs in the area of research and how this, in turn, would affect the efforts in the DIRP.
    • Creates and maintains a mentoring and development program for all trainees and staff in their laboratory program.
    • Leads a program devoted to the understanding of scientific problems relevant to eye disease or mental health and disease, specifically, neuregulin signaling and cholinergic circuitry.
    • Support the Scientific Director to have a world-class biomedical research program comprised of clinical and basic research investigators, laboratories, trainees and associated medical, technical and administrative support staff.
    • Conducts research and development and collaborates with intramural investigators in support of biomedical programs at the NIH.
    • Develops periodic progress reports and evaluation materials, including the preparation of analyses and evaluation reports from program activities related to strategic scientific priorities.
