The ideal candidate for this position will have training and experience with metallurgical failure analyses of mechanical, structural, and technical components; be experienced organizing and leading large-scale metallurgical failure analyses involving multiple parties, operators and federal government regulators; have experience in developing detailed tests plans, seeking consensus of test plans with vested parties, executing test plans, and developing final reports; direct operational experience with most common metallurgical failure analysis laboratory instruments; have the necessary knowledge to specify required tests from third-party laboratories; and be able to prepare logical, well-reasoned and well-supported failure analysis reports.
