    These positions are located in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), US Meat Animal Research Center, located in Clay Center, NE.

    The mission of the U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (MARC) is to develop scientific information and new technology to solve high priority problems for the U.S. beef, sheep, and swine industries.

    The purpose of these positions are to design and develop systems that allow research and livestock data to be put into electronic form at the point of collection and that transfer data directly to MARC databases.

    Major Duties may include, but are not limited to:

    • Designing information systems that will be used for paperless data collection.
    • Writing codes and programs to implement the design of an information system.
    • Conducting design sessions with users and management to identify data elements, data relationships and flow of information in an information system.
    • Identifying hardware and software to be used in an information system.
    • Serving as the primary point of contact for system users, including answering questions and solving user problems.
