    This position is located within a National Forest. Incumbent performs timber management work and to support the work of higher graded technicians and Foresters.

    The incumbent uses knowledge of the most basic or commonly used rules, procedures, or operations to perform a few repetitive tasks common to the forestry program of the office. The incumbent may perform any or all of the following, or similar simple duties:

    Participates in forestry inventory, timber sales, timber trespass, cruising, and road layout projects; carries out routine activities and assists in other work.

    Marks timber in accordance with simple merchantability specifications and marking rules. Computes tree summaries, applies applicable volume tables, computes the net volumes, and drafts simple maps.

    Serves on emergency fire suppression and mop up crews as qualified and required.

    Performs other similar duties as assigned.

    NOTE: The incumbent must have a valid driver’s license for operating ATV’s, vehicles towing trailers, and in cases of inclement weather, snowmobiles.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Position(s) may involve work away the official duty location to remote worksites within commuting distance (49 miles) and may also require overnight travel and/or camping per work assignment.
