The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
-Perform the review and analysis of system functional requirements documentation.
-Develop system designs and prepare formal design documentation.
-Work with functional representatives and technical staff to assess cost/benefit of system requirements individually and in aggregate.
-Provide training on developed systems to system support staff and to users when necessary.
-Conduct research and analysis on issues related to system development and development tools.

Specialized experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes experience utilizing software development tools, concepts and methods to develop software or write programs in order to support enterprise-wide applications. Examples of such experience may include:
* Designing, writing, testing, debugging, and maintaining software applications utilizing PL/SQL or another coding language (excluding code generation tools); OR
* Designing, writing, testing, debugging interfaces between two systems utilizing PL/SQL or another coding language (excluding code generation tools).
In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must have IT-related proficiency in each of the four competencies listed below.

Specialized experience for this position includes analyzing and preparing technical documentation to support the maintenance of existing applications software. Examples of such experience may include:
* Participating on a team designing, developing, testing, and implementing software for less complex programs, such as modifying input forms; OR
* Developing flow diagrams and/or pseudo-code.
In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must have IT-related proficiency in each of the four competencies listed below.
* Attention to Detail such as assisting or being involved in an IT-related development project.
* Customer Service such as determining if projected benefits have been achieved and the customers expectations are being met.
* Oral Communication such as participating in evaluations of basic IT-related procedures, and assists in the presentation of recommendations for improvements.
