The Supervisory Physician for this position provides direction and leadership in minority health and healthcare disparities research, promoting and developing clinical research programs to address minority health and health disparities in clinical settings; fostering the development and support of innovative research collaborations and partnerships to improve our understanding of how determinants affect health status, access and quality of health care in medically underserved populations; developing and supporting programs and initiatives that incorporate a developmental framework to address minority health and health disparities across the lifespan; developing, coordinating and implementing training programs that translate research findings into improved health status, better access to care and improved quality of healthcare and health outcomes of medically underserved populations. This position will supervise a professional staff dedicated to developing and evaluating the NIMHD minority health and health disparities strategic plan and performing the science policy activities.
Although not required, the ideal candidate for this position will have extensive and specific expertise in minority health and healthcare disparities research; clinical research and expertise in overseeing and managing biomedical and behavioral research programs; an overall expertise in biological and behavioral disorders across varied populations; have completed a full residency training and a research fellowship.
