As a ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN at the GS-0856-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:
· Participate as member of a Technical Support Group to rapidly deploy in support of the Combatant Commanders and other federal Departments and Agencies (D/As) in chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) emergency response events.
· Develop and devise improvements and alterations to the most complex technical equipment, instruments or software; modify and conduct complex tests, and analyze results.
· Responsible for troubleshooting, operating, installing, testing, calibration, characterization, electronic and mechanical equipment repair, and checkout of radiation detection and communications systems for operations in austere, challenging field environments.
· Oversee and perform development work and conduct research by application of established experimental and empirical methods and techniques, interpret results and select or recommend approaches to design problem solutions.
· Track equipment operational status, inventory and quality assurance records in hard copy and use the equipment status database.
· Responsible for all shipping and receiving functions, which includes hazardous materials to both CONUS and OCONUS locations via commercial and military means.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
