    As a Meteorologist, you will perform the following duties:

    • Serve as a forecaster for several of the Climate Predication Center’s (CPC) official outlooks, to include Week-2 outlooks (temperature, precipitation and hazards), subseasonal (Week 3-4) temperature and precipitation outlooks and seasonal temperature, precipitation and drought outlooks.
    • Perform programming tasks to maintain, enhance and at times migrate to new computing platforms critical climate observation and forecast datasets and other climate related information.
    • Consult with a wide variety of partners to determine specific needs for climatological services, devise techniques and procedures to be responsive to those needs.
    • Test and evaluate forecast skill and operational feasibility of new climate related products and services.
    • Conduct developmental applied research specifically directed towards improving current or developing new operational climate outlooks utilizing global datasets processed on high performance computing systems.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Up to 5% Domestic and Foreign travel may be required.
