This position will allow you to use your experience assisting in assessing management processes to inspect ports that have a major impact on CBP operational functions. This position starts at a salary of $56,233.00 (GS-09, Step 1) to $73,105.00 (GS-09, Step 10) with promotion potential to $126,062 (GS-13, Step 10). In this position, you will serve as an inspector assessing compliance of organizational processes. Major duties will include:
- Providing input and monitoring nationwide management inspection protocols intended to assess operational compliance with CBP core programs/operations.
- Executing and successfully completing management inspections in the most efficient and effective manner.
- Developing, and conducting in-depth reviews of CBP core process functions to assess operational efficiency and/or compliance.
- Conducting research on CBP core process issues which necessitates gathering and analyzing extensive amounts of data obtained for a variety of internal and external sources.
- Prepares accurate and detailed reports, memorandums, briefings and profiles in support of Enterprise Services - Office of Accountability - Management Inspections Division
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

PROGRAM COMPLETION AND CONVERSION:
The Recent Graduates program lasts for one year. After successful completion of the program, recent Graduates may be converted to a permanent position (or, in some limited circumstances, to a term position lasting 1-4 years).
To be eligible for conversion, Recent Graduates must:
- Be a U.S. Citizen;
- Successfully complete at least 1 year of continuous service in addition to all requirements of the program;
- Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Recent Graduate will be converted;
- Meet agency-specific requirements and expectations as specified in the Participant's Agreement; and
- Perform their job successfully.
- Orientation program for Recent Graduates hired for the program.
- Mentorship throughout the program.
- Individual Development Plan to create and track Recent Graduates' career planning, professional development, and training activities.
- At least 40 hours of formal, interactive training each year of the program.

QualificationsGS-09: You qualify at the GS-07 level if you possess one year of specialized experience that included assisting with developing, implementing, and monitoring nationwide management inspection protocols; assisting with developing and conducting "quality assurance" reviews of process functions to assess operational efficiency or compliance; assist with conducting research on complex process issues.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE:
GS-9: Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in an accredited college or university, or a J.D. or LL.B. degree may be substituted for experience at the GS-9 grade level. Such education must demonstrate the skills needed to do the work. A course of study in business administration, public administration, or related fields is qualifying. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 36 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 2 years of full-time study requirement.
Combining Experience and Education: Appropriate combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience also may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the GS-9 grade level. To combine your education and experience, you must convert each to a percentage and then add the percentages. The combined total of your percentage of education and experience must equal at least 100% in order to qualify. If your education is currently described in quarter hours, convert the quarter hours into semester hours by multiplying the quarter hours by the fraction 2/3. To calculate your percentage of graduate education, divide the number of graduate semester hours by 18. To determine your percentage of qualifying experience, you must divide your total number of months of qualifying experience by the required number of months of experience. Add your percentages of education and experience.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
