As a Paralegal Specialist at the GS-0950-11/12 some of your typical work assignments may include:
· Incumbent researchs applicable points of law, and independently selects, assembles, and summarizes substantive information from statutes, case law, administrative decisions, implementing regulations and other relevant sources in response to legal questions involving civil litigation, employment law, government information practices, privacy and civil liberties, ethics, claims, contracts, personnel clearances, and other identified areas within the responsibility of the Office of the General Counsel.
· Assists in case preparation for civil litigation including drafting discovery requests as well as collection, analysis, and evaluation of evidence. Prepares documents such as answers to interrogatories, responses to requests for admissions and production of documents, etc. in compliance with the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and applicable local rules.
· Assists in the administration of the General Counsel's Office. Maintains case files and dockets of actions. Maintains calendar for significant events and appointments. Coordinates within and outside the Agency on mission related areas.
· Prepares digests of opinions and decisions related to litigation issues. Includes searches in relevant law reporters (including computerized legal research databases), law reviews, legal periodicals, and many other applicable reference material. Analyzes and summarizes related case issues and court holdings and assesses applicability to agency litigation issues.
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for the GS-12.
