THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This position is located within the Staffing and Benefits Section of the Human Resources Office of the Texas Military Department located at Camp Mabry, Austin, Texas and the purpose of this position is to provide clerical support to the supervisor and other functional specialists within the organization.
As a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (OA) with the Texas Army National Guard, your duties will include, but will not be limited to:
Provides guidance and assistance to supervisors and employees on various functions of human resources (HR) management. Provides information on status of personnel actions operating information on status of personnel actions to operating officials.
Files and organizes records. Determines necessary documents needed to support transactions and ensures they are included in the action and OPF. Establishes and/or maintains OPFs, including consolidation with prior service records. Obtains original OPF from records center or other activity as required.
Composes correspondence of a routine nature and follows up as necessary.
Receives office visitors and telephone inquiries relating to human resources matters, providing general information from overall knowledge of the various human resources functions, and makes referrals to appropriate personnel in situations requiring a subject-matter specialist.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Appointment Factor(s): This is a Title 5 Excepted Service position.
Remarks:
This is a temporary position not to exceed 30 September 2019. Selectee may be extended if/when funding becomes available but not to exceed 4 years from appointment date.
This is a Non-Bargaining Unit position.
The incumbent must have, at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (GS-04) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Creditable specialized experience includes: answering telephones, receiving and distributing mail and maintaining records. Experience following oral or written instructions to accomplish work. Experience establishing and retrieving files and information. Experience using common computer software designed for word processing.
OR
Education:
Have successfully completed 120 semester hours of college.
OR
Combination of Experience and Education:
A combination of education and specialized experience totaling 100 percent computed by dividing total months of experience by 12, then for every 30 semester hours equal 25%, and then adding the two percentages together to reach a combined 100%.
