The USDA Forest Service has legislative authority to recruit and fill Permanent (Career/Career-Conditional), Temporary, and Term Appointments under the USDA Demonstration Project. Under this authority, any U.S. citizen may apply.
This position is located in the USDA, Forest Service, Office of the Deputy Chief for Business Operations, Enterprise Program Office.
The Enterprise Program was initiated in 1997 and was created to support increased productivity and effectiveness through implementing business practices within a Government structure. The Enterprise Program offers a new way of doing business. Enterprise employees are Forest Service resources that offer an internal choice for the accomplishment of the agency’s work. These teams of dedicated Forest Service employees operate as independent, financially self-sustaining individuals funded by the clients/customers who benefit from the products and services they offer.
The incumbent operates as a fully functioning professional landscape architect. The primary purposes of this position include scenery management, landscape planning and design, interpretive planning, dispersed and developed recreation, special uses and scenic byways.

The incumbent is responsible for operating in serval roles; Project management, responsible for day-to-day project operation and progress, project quality, and timely delivery of assigned work. Prepares project scopes, budgets, and schedules in consultation with the program coordinator and budget specialist.
Environmental planning; serves as the recreation and scenery resource specialist on multidisciplinary teams for a variety of resource management activities such as recreation planning, forest restoration, wilderness and wild and scenic river planning.
Design; designs a variety of moderately to highly complex recreational facilities, using computer-assisted design technology such as AutoCAD, Landcadd, and Google Sketchup. Participates in or directs lower graded employees in the preparation of master plans, design narratives and site development plans.
