    This position is part of the Executive Secretariat. The SENIOR PROTOCOL OFFICER is located in The Office of Protocol which provides advice and counsel to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense on all matters of protocol and other issues as directed to meet the strategic goals of the Department of Defense in order to uphold and represent the Leadership, Department and the United States in the highest standards.

    As a SENIOR PROTOCOL OFFICER, GS-0301-13, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:

    • Manage, schedule and perform essential protocol details critical to the successful visits of foreign Heads of State and Ministers of Defense, Cabinet Officials and other high-ranking U.S. Officials
    • Analyze all aspects of logistical support for movement of guests to and from official functions.
    • Serve in a leadership role by mentoring incoming action officers and non-commissioned officers
    • Serve as a subject matter expert on protocol and provides continuity in the Office of the Secretary of Defense Protocol Office
    • Mentors new office personnel on proper protocol procedures and precedence
    • Work in conjunction with the Director to ensure scheduling conflicts do not exist for events with the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - You will be expected to travel for this position.
