As a Supervisory Auditor in the Asset Evaluation Division with the Office of Benefits Administration you will:
Serve as Supervisory Auditor and reviewer of the work of Federal and contract staff auditors, providing authoritative technical advice and assistance in accordance with plan asset evaluation procedures.
Manage the design of an audit plan to assess the reasonableness and accuracy of the assets and liabilities of a pension plan.
All U.S. Citizens, including veterans eligible under the Veterans Opportunity to Work Act (VOW), and Nationals (residents of American Samoa and Swains Island)

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following basic education requirements:
Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard. Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor.")
OR
Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph 1, provided that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
You may start at $114,590 if you possess the following specialized experience by the closing date of the announcement:
Specialized experience is defined as at least one year of experience at the GS-13 grade level in the Federal sector or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the private sector, identifying and determining the fair market value of assets and liabilities of all terminated pension plans and identifying potential fraud, fiduciary breach, and party-in-interest transactions in addition to working with the valuation of assets typically invested in by pension plans found in the public accounting, banking or insurance industry. Examples of the types of plan assets being evaluated include: multiple combinations of complex derivatives, variable securities, private equity funds, hedge funds, funds of funds, venture capital funds, infrastructure funds, structured products, commodity pools, real estate funds, contingent securities, privately held companies, limited partnerships, fixed income, or equity linked securities. Experience may include supervising a group of professionals who determine and/or assist in determining the value of plan assets.
